International general insurance and reinsurance group Brit Insurance has announced that the Reinsurance Contracts Manager for its Reinsurance business unit, Alan Groves, has won the prestigious Chartered Insurance Institute’s Rutter Prize.
The accolade is awarded every year to the finest new Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute (FCII).
Groves received his gold medal and cheque on 27 September, at a ceremony held at the Insurance Institute of London (IIL).
He was awarded the prize largely due to his dissertation, entitled Capital Markets Convergence – Short Term Fix or Long Term Partnership?
The dissertation, which explored the development of Insurance Linked Securities, was considered by the CII to be of outstanding quality.
Brit Reinsurance Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Turner has said that attaining FCII status alone is a great achievement, and that the prize Groves has won is a reflection of his dedication and enthusiasm.
