Swiss Re announce raft of senior appointments
Swiss Re has announced a significant adjustment of its senior leadership structure, including appointing a new chief risk officer and a new chief operating officer.
In addition, Reinsurance, Corporate Solutions and Admin Re® will each be represented by Executive Committee members.
Chief Executive Officer Stefan Lippe has stated that the changes will help Swiss Re to seize and secure the future, and to be more responsive to the needs of clients and investors.
Head of the Life & Health (L&H) Division Christian Mumenthaler has been appointed chief marketing officer of Reinsurance and member of the Executive Committee, with effect from 1 January 2011.
Chief Operating Officer Agostino Galvagni will become CEO Corporate Solutions from 1 October and retains his seat on the Executive Committee.
Chief Investment Officer David Blumer adds to his present duties with responsbility for Admin Re®, effective 1 October 2010.
Chief Risk officer Raj Singh is to leave Swiss Re for personal reasons, and will part ways with the firm on 28 February 2011.
Singh will be succeeded by David Cole, who will not only become chief risk officer but will also take on a seat on the Executive Committee.
Cole will join the firm on 1 November, to help facilitate a smooth transition period.
From 1 October Thomas Wellauer will take up the post of chief operating officer, and an Executive Committee seat, supervising operational functions including HR, IT, Legal, Communications and Logistics.
Chief Marketing Officer Michel Liès will will become chairman of Global Partnerships, reporting directly to the group CEO from 1 January 2011.
