Liberty Syndicates enters UK and Irish motor markets
Liberty Syndicates Management is entering the UK and Irish motor insurance markets.
The firm has hired Julian Cashen as Class Underwriter and Justin Suttle as Deputy Class Underwriter.
The two, who have over 40 years of market experience between them, will take up their positions later this year, together with a small team of motor specialists.
The new unit will underwrite coach fleets and small commercial fleets in the UK, plus niche personal lines products.
Commenting on the developments, Liberty Syndicates’ chief executive officer, Nick Metcalf, says: “With our strong emphasis on international property, contingent lines and marine, motor is an excellent addition to our underwriting footprint and spreads our risk accordingly.”
The insurer, which forms part of Liberty Mutual Group, wrote over £1 billion of gross premium in 2009, producing a profit of £147 million.
