ABI director general resigns unexpectedly
The Association of British Insurers (ABI) has confirmed that for personal reasons, Kerrie Kelly is stepping down from her role as director general to return to Australia.
Maggie Craig, director of Life & Savings at the ABI, will serve as acting-director general while a permanent replacement is found.
Ms Kelly took up the role in February of this year, having previously held the post of executive director and chief executive officer of the Insurance Council of Australia.
Commenting on her departure, outgoing ABI Chairman, Archie Kane, said: “Although she has only been here for a short time, Kerrie has had the drive and energy to make an impact on the organisation and the industry during an important period.”
Mr Kane is being replaced later this month by Legal & General group chief executive, Tim Breedon.
