AA index shows £197 saving with comparison sites
Gocompare.com’s Business Development Director Lee Griffin has stated that the AA’s premium index highlights the importance of browsing when it comes to car insurance.
According to the AA index, the average premium for comprehensive car insurance now stands at £980, whilst the average cost on a comparison website is £197 lower at £783.
Griffin went on to say that whilst insurance premiums generally had been increasing, comparison websites were seeing a lower rate of increase.
According to the Confused.com/EMB Car Insurance Price Index the second quarter of 2010 saw the costs of comprehensive car insurance increase by 14%.
He added that the rate at which premiums rise has been declining, suggesting that, as the sector heads back into the black, they may soon level off and stop the recent increase in cost.
Griffin stated that the industry had faced up to new challenges, including claims farmers which encourage people to claim, and credit hire companies that offer replacement cars instead of courtesy cars.
