Torus Executive Risks appoints PI manager

Torus Executive Risks (TER) has appointed David Robinson as professional indemnity (PI) manager.

Mr Robinson is moving from Lloyd’s Syndicate 3210 of Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Group, bringing with him over 20 years’ experience in the PI market, having also held posts with DA Constable Syndicate 386 and BP Theakston Syndicate 1101.

TER was established earlier this year as a joint venture with Nexus Underwriting.

The business provides policy limits of up to £10 million per risk in the following product lines: Directors and Officers Liability; Bankers Blanket Bond; Professional Indemnity; Pension Trustee Liability; Employment Practices Liability; and Public Offering of Securities Insurance.

Commenting on the significance of the appointment, TER chief executive officer, Colin Thompson, says Mr Robertson’s hiring “marks our entry into the PI market and complements our stated strategy of attracting the top performers into our respective product areas”.

Mr Robinson adds that brokers and policyholders have suffered a “significant dislocation” in the PI market and that he expects Torus Executive Risks’ PI platform to become recognised as the market’s new point of reference.
