Insurance intermediary Kwik Fit Insurance’s Flex programme won the prize for Most Effective Benefits Strategy (for organisations with more than 1000 staff) at the Employee Benefits Awards, the only event in the UK that focuses upon the rewards and benefits offered by employers.

The firm was praised for using its approach to benefits to tackle the challenges of acquiring and retaining the best staff, cutting back on absences and enhancing customer satisfaction.

Group Managing Director Brendan Devine has said that the award reflects the great attention to detail the firm pays to ensuring that its staff enjoy a happy working environment.

Devine added that since the Flex programme was introduced absences and staff turnover have been nearly halved.

In addition, recruitment costs have fallen substantially, as more direct applications are made due to word of mouth.

The judges were surprised by the extensive nature of Kwik Fit Insurance’s on-site facilities, including a nursery, gym and personal trainer, as well as pool tables and game consoles.

The award is not the first the firm has received for its strong performance in employee relations; it also won the Mental Health and Wellbeing Commendation Award from The Scottish Centre for Healthy Working Lives earlier this year.
