Exeter Friendly Society scoops innovation award

Exeter Friendly Society has scooped the innovation award at the Protection Review’s 2010 annual conference.

The Review, which honours the UK’s health and protection providers, made the award for the mutual’s website, which earlier this year received a similar accolade at the Media Innovation Awards.

The Society’s sales & marketing director, Richard Wyatt-Haines, says the latest award is an endorsement of the creativity, customer focused features and technology built into the site.

Exeter offers two heath plans, “Health & Stuff” and “Health Cover for Me”, which are available both through intermediaries and direct to consumers.

Earlier this month, the insurer broadened the underwriting options on both plans and customers can now choose a fixed two-year moratorium whereby pre-existing conditions are automatically covered after two years, regardless of whether they have re-occurred during the period.

The moratorium is available to new applicants aged 65 and below but comes with certain medical exclusions.
