American International Group, Inc. (AIG) has announced that Robert S. Miller has become the chairman of the firm’s Board of Directors.

Miller succeeds Harvey Golub, following Golub’s resignation with immediate effect.

Miller was elected to the board last year, and serves as the present chairman of MidOcean Partners, and previously served as executive chairman and chief executive officer of Delphi Corporation.

Earlier in his career he was chairman of Federal-Mogul, Inc. and chairman and CEO of Bethlehem Steel.

On behalf of the Board, Miller thanked Golub for his contribution to AIG, and stressed that the firm remained committed to delivering on the key objectives of repaying taxpayers and restructuring the firm so it becomes smaller, and more focused.
