PartnerRe’s CFO to stand down
PartnerRe Ltd. has announced that Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Albert Benchimol is to retire from the firm, with effect from 31 December 2010.
Benchimol has held both positions since he joined the firm a decade ago, and in 2007 he also became chief executive officer of the Capital Markets Group.
During his time with the firm PartnerRe has established its balance sheet strength, with $8bn of capital and $18bn in cash and assets.
Benchimol has said that since 2000 PartnerRe has become a first class reinsurer and expressed his pride in the role he played in this.
He went on to express his confidence that PartnerRe would continue to build upon its successes, and said that the time had come for him to take on new challenges and opportunities.
Chief Executive Officer Patrick Thiele has stated that Benchimol has been an important member of the firm’s leadership team for a decade and that he had made a significant contribution towards the success enjoyed over those 10 years.
Thiele added that he was sure Benchimol would succeed in the next phase of his career, and wished him all the best for the future.
