Martin South, Marsh UK’s chief executive officer, has been named Insurance Broking CEO of the Year at Reaction Magazine’s London Market Awards 2010.

South was recognised in the ceremony for turning around Marsh UK, strengthening the business and acquiring HSBC Insurance Brokers.

South insisted the award belonged to all his Marsh UK colleagues, adding that, following a substantial transition period, the firm was enjoying growing profits and revenues.

He went on to say that the firm was focused upon doing the best for its clients, and thanked the award judges for their recognition.

The awards were also a good night for Guy Carpenter, which won the awards for Casualty Reinsurance Broker of the Year and Aviation Reinsurance Broker of the Year.

President and Chief Executive Officer Peter Zaffino described the firm’s brace of awards as a great honour.
