Chaucer Syndicate 1084 has formed an energy partnership with ScandIns (Scandinavian Insurance Management Company), which was established in Norway in 2009 and has been operating as an energy underwriting representative for Chaucer Syndicate 1084, since January.

The company has now received approval in the UK to act as official underwriting agent for Lloyd’s, underwriting energy and associated risks and specialising in developing upstream energy opportunities for clients in Scandinavia.

Chaucer has long-standing relationships with the major brokers in the region and says the new the partnership should provide clients with the benefits of a regional service alongside the international underwriting excellence and financial strength of Lloyd’s.

According to ScandIns managing director, Vincent Jebsen, a large number of high quality Scandinavian companies are involved in Norway’s oil and gas industry, including specialised insurance brokers that provide a significant volume of insurance business for the energy industry.
