Over 55s most concerned about road rage
Independent financial research company Defaqto has commissioned research surveying 5,000 consumers and finding that the over 55s are far more concerned than younger motorists about the traumatic effects of road rage and car jacking.
However, this is not typically covered by 90% of insurance policies available.
Road rage is not covered by 91% of comprehensive motor insurance policies, and 92% of such policies do not cover car jacking.
Defaqto’s Insight Analyst Mike Powell has said that, as well as the financial impact of road rage and car jacking, many motorists also suffer injury and trauma.
Powell advocated that concerned motorists ought to examine their policy details closely, with differing policies offering differing sorts of coverage (for example, some offer cover for trauma counselling).
He added that consumers should be aware of certain exclusions, with relatives and friends often excluded if they commit an assault, and road rage cover often being void if the incident was instigated by the policyholder.
