Allianz Commercial applies new smartphone technology

Allianz Commercial’s risk assessment business has successfully trialled a bespoke solution from systems integrator, LAN2LAN.

The new technology allows the insurer’s Risk Control Team to replicate data from its in-house IBM Lotus application, directly onto BlackBerry smartphones.

By removing the need to transfer information manually onto company laptops and then into the central corporate system, productivity should increase.

The Risk Control Team covers the UK, giving advice to small and medium-sized businesses and conducting surveys of premises.

Reports following a client visit can now be prepared within a few minutes of the survey, or even as the survey is conducted.

Team manager, Andrew Miller, comments: “It will allow us to complete more visits and mean less time working out of hours.”

He adds: “We will also be simplifying a process that is tedious for people who would much rather be out and about, talking to clients and winning new deals.”

Also this week, Allianz Insurance announced the addition of an online comparison service for brokers, which makes use of the latest Defaqto Compare comparison tool.

Using the new tool, brokers will be able to easily compare Allianz’s “Clear” household product range with rival products, enabling them to shift to a feature driven sale, as opposed to rate driven.
