CII pledges support for Career Academies

The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) is to support Career Academies UK, which works to raise the aspirations of 16 to 19-year-olds studying a Level 3 qualification.

The national charity is currently engaged with over 800 employers of all sizes and sectors and more than 120 schools and colleges across the country.

In its new role, the CII will be working with firms to promote the advantages of becoming involved and developing new relationships.

Participating employers can be flexible in the level of support they provide but may wish to consider six-week paid summer placements and mentoring sessions.

Guest speaker slots in the classroom plus hosting site visits and trips are also on the agenda.

Career Academies UK is particularly keen to receive more input from the financial advice sector, where it has fewer employer relationships than in other areas of financial services, or business in general.

CII relationship manager, Caspar Bartington, comments: “Many employers will find that there is a school or college near to them that they can get involved with and generally there is no cost to the employer to participate.”

He adds: “Working with Career Academies UK will offer employers a tried and tested method of supporting learners, equipping them with the skills needed to be successful and offers employers an opportunity to unearth new talent, and develop their staff.”
