Giles expands Welsh presence

Giles Insurance Brokers has expanded its presence in Wales with the appointment of seven members of staff at its Llantrisant head office, which opened earlier this year.

The independent broker says the move underlines its intention to achieve on-going expansion through the recruitment of local professionals.

The new team, headed by Peter Bryon, formerly of NIG Insurance, includes Bethan Jenkins and Chris Boughton who join from Caerphilly-based Moorhouse Insurance, and Neil Swinnerton-Hurford, previously from Morgan Brokers in Cardiff.

Owen David, formerly of Cardiff-based Dilligenta, and graduate Anthony Gale also join the commercial team, alongside Steph Grimmit who moves across from the company’s personal lines team.

Giles’ regional managing director for Wales, Mike Jones, says: “This latest jobs boost comes at the end of an extremely successful start to the year, and we hope to see this continue throughout the rest of 2010.”

Last month, Giles announced that the team from specialist wholesale broker, FSJ, had joined the group from Cooper Gay.

The transfer included both FSJ’s customer base and the brand.
