PartnerRe Ltd. has announced that Jean-Paul Montupet, recently re-elected as a board director, has been appointed to the post of chairman of the Board of Directors.

He succeeds John Rollwagen, who has also been re-elected as a director and will remain a member of the Board.

Montupet joined the Board eight years ago, and has occupied seats on the Nominating and Governance, Risk and Finance, Human Resources and Compensation Committees.

He is also executive VP and advisory director of Emerson, and a director of Lexmark International, Inc.

Rollwagen has expressed his full confidence in Montupet’s ability to do well in his new role as chairman, adding that he looked forward to continuing to play his part as a director.

The news follows that from earlier this month, when President and Chief Executive Officer Patrick Thiele announced his retirement from the firm, effective from 31 December 2010.
