Guy Carpenter appoints South Africa CEO
Global risk and reinsurance specialist Guy Carpenter & Company has announced the appointment of Lee Ellis as chief executive officer of its operations in South Africa.
He joined Guy Carpenter last year, having previously worked for Benfield in South Africa, prior to which he was an executive director of BMS International in London.
Ellis, whose appointment is made with immediate effect, will be directly responsible to Donald Macdonald, the firm’s head of UK Property, Ireland and South Africa.
He succeeds Mike Brown, who has announced he is retiring from the reinsurance broking industry and will stay on with the firm in an advisory capacity until June 2010.
Macdonald has said that Ellis’ presence will bring expertise and insight to the firm in South Africa and help it continue to develop its operation in the country.
