Thiele to step down from PartnerRe
PartnerRe Ltd. has announced that President and Chief Executive Officer Patrick Thiele is to retire from the firm, with effect from 31 December 2010.
When he does so, Thiele will also relinquish his seat on the Board of Directors.
Thiele will have occupied the posts of president and chief executive officer for just over 10 years when he parts company with PartnerRe.
A successor is expected to be named on 12 May, following a meeting of the Board.
Chairman of the Board John Rollwagen has paid tribute to Thiele, describing him as an outstanding leader responsible for transforming the firm into a leading global reinsurance company with more than $8bn of capital.
The Board of Directors has heartily thanked Thiele for his contribution to the firm’s success.
Thiele himself has said that he feels a 10 year period is the right length of time to serve as CEO, and said that he was looking forward to spending more time with his family.
