Hiscox issues advice to event planners

| April 20, 2010 | 0 Comments

Hiscox, the specialist event insurer, has issued advice to organisers concerned about the possible impact of the volcanic ash cloud on their events.

The firm advises organisers to immediately contact their insurer, who can help provide guidance as to the best course of action.

Money is also vital, and organisers are recommended to find out whether they are covered for emergency expenditure without giving notice to their insurer, and to keep good records of their expenditure and gross revenue (these details can prove important if a claim is made).

Those planning future events are urged to have a strong crisis management plan, clear contracts and to purchase insurance coverage as early as is possible.

This year alone there have been two major UK-wide occurrences that have thrown events into question (the prolonged winter weather and now the volcanic ash cloud), highlighting the unpredictability of the future and the importance of insurance coverage.
