Principia Underwriting is established
The Aquila Underwriting LLP group of businesses has been increased with the addition of Principia Underwriting, which launches today.
Principia will specialise in liability, business interruption and crisis management policies for risks of an emerging and traditional nature faced by businesses handling media content, intellectual property and IT security.
Chris Newton and Shaun Cooper are the firm’s founding directors; Newton was formerly responsible for the establishment of Pembroke Syndicate 4000′s Media and Technology Division.
Cooper previously worked for Aon Global Risks, before joining Newton at AXIS and Pembroke Syndicate 4000.
Newton explained that Principia would handle a new range of supply-chain risks that are not presently recognised by many insurers, adding that exposure to traditional media outlets remains but is joined by new exposures to the new media of social networking sites and blogs.
