Online motor insurer swiftcover.com has begun construction of a new new multi-million pound centre of operations Stockton, Teesside.

The move will see the creation of around 350 new jobs in the area over the next three years, with work beginning on the of the 25,000 sq ft structure starting immediately, with January 2011 the estimated date of operational commencement.

The insurer, which already has an operations centre in Stockton, will employ more than 800 people in the area.

The new centre is an indicator of swiftcover’s excellent growth, with the business expanding by 40% last year alone.

As well as housing swiftcover staff, the new centre will provide AXA Direct, a motor insurance service delivered by swiftcover’s parent company, AXA.

Swiftcover.com’s operations director Dave Fretter, himself born in Stockton, has stated that the firm has retained its loyalty to Teesside, rewarding staff with continued support for the area.

Earlier this year swiftcover.com was named the UK’s best “Value for Money” car insurer, by visitors to Lovemoney.com.
