The Green Insurance Company and Uddingston Pride collaborated together last week to help promote the 2010 National Spring Clean in Lanarkshire, which lasts throughout April.

More than a dozen of the insurance intermediary’s staff, along with company mascot Grimple, played their part in tackling dropped litter in the Powburn and Old Edinburgh areas of Uddingston.

The Green Insurance Company’s volunteers helped clear plastic bottles, food packaging, traffic cones and bowling pins, which together filled 50 bags of litter.

Community group Uddingston Pride were behind the area’s participation in the 2010 National Spring Clean month, and designated the zone for the volunteers to clear.

Keep Scotland Beautiful Chief Executive John Summers OBE thanked the Green Insurance Company personally for their efforts in the green initiative.

Gaynor Wood, head of The Green Insurance Company, has stated that the firm is always watchful for green events that it can support and described the National Spring Clean as a great initiative.
