L&G appoints Sterling as network partner

Legal & General (L&G) has named Sterling Insurance as a network partner.

The latter’s Executive Home Insurance complements existing products available from L&G, providing as it does a contents sum insured of over £70,000, rebuilding costs of over £800,000 and specified personal possessions cover of £20,000.

Under the agreement, L&G will pass referrals to Sterling, which will handle all customer service and the fulfilment of policies.

Commenting on the arrangement, L&G’s managing director of housing, Gary Burchett, says: “Adding this partnership to our network proposition gives advisers greater earning potential and allows them to give a more comprehensive service to their clients.”

He continues: “We plan to add further services to our network proposition with carefully selected partners this year.”

Sterling recently increased premium rates for its high net worth clients at renewal, typically hiking clean risks by 7.5%.

The insurer said rises represented necessary corrections after a prolonged soft market created by the economic downturn and increasing access to online solutions.
