Bupa backs PM’s home care pledge
International healthcare company Bupa has supported Prime Minister Gordon Brown’s recent speech in which he called for more patients to be treated in their own homes by the NHS.
Bupa collaborates with the NHS to help provide more than 14,000 patients with in-home care.
Managing Director Steve Flanagan expressed his view that it is better for many patients to be treated in their own home, if possible.
Flanagan went on to say that it can also be more cost-effective to treat people this way, cuts down on hospital acquired infections and enhances patient satisfaction.
He added that such a measure could help the NHS as it seeks to improve service whilst the country continues to suffer economic difficulty.
In his speech, the Prime Minister also stated that Labour would provide cancer sufferers with home treatment within five years, if they win the forthcoming General Election.
