EasyInventory launched to help cut under-insurance

Research from AXA has recently revealed that Britons under-insure their homes to the monumental tune of £255bn, potentially leading to a great financial burden for those who have to make a claim.

Compiling an inventory has the double benefit of reducing the chances of being under-insured and making it easier to track belongings if a home insurance claim is necessary.

Software developer Boydevlin Ltd has created EasyInventory, a small software application designed to make compiling an inventory easier.

Director Richard Devlin explained that the firm was interested in making a better home inventory system, as the other offerings available were rather cumbersome.

Typing takes a backseat to pointing and clicking, with homeowners able to view their inventory according to categories, such as Location, Category, Owner, Heir and Condition.

Because of its small size EasyInventory can be operated from a USB key and is protected by strong encryption to keep the data safe and secure.

Under-insurance is a problem for homeowners, and can be particularly bad immediately after a wedding.

The influx of gifts and newly bought items can see home contents increase by as much as £12,000 in value, according to specialist insurer Hiscox, leaving a real chance of under-insurance.
