International speciality property/casualty insurer and reinsurer Catlin Group Limited has announced the appointment of Martin Zingg as chief investment officer.
Priot to joining Catlin, Zingg worked for Swiss Reinsurance Company and occupied a number of senior investment roles with the firm.
Most recently, he was head of private equity and managing director of asset management for Swiss Re in Zurich.
Zingg, who takes up his new post from 1 March, is to be based at Catlin’s office in Zurich, Switzerland.
In his new role, he will be tasked with deciding the firm’s strategic approach to investment, as well as managing the firm’s cash and investments (worth US$7bn).
Zingg will report directly to Catlin’s chief financial officer, Benjamin Meuli.
Meuli has welcomed Zingg to the firm, describing him as the ideal person for the role.
