swiftcover.com has been named the UK’s best “Value for Money” car insurer for 2010, by visitors to Lovemoney.com.

The website’s insurance buyers vote in the winner and according to swiftcover marketing director, Tina Shortle, the accolade is “particularly special” because consumers have the last say.

She adds: “To be named the best ‘Value for Money’ car insurer shows that our commitment to low cost car insurance, backed by a service customers expect, is working.”

Ed Bowsher, Lovemoney.com’s head of consumer finance, says: “Picking the right financial product is a difficult decision … what could be simpler than following the recommendations of other customers?”

AXA-owned Swiftcover began trading in June 2005 and claims to be the UK’s only insurance company without call centres, which means premiums can be kept low.

In May 2009 the insurer sold its one millionth policy, helped by its popular advertising campaign featuring Iggy Pop.

The company recently launched a £30 million advertising blitz featuring “little Iggy” a puppet created by the team behind Spitting Image, and a miniature alter-ego to the rock icon.
