Learner drivers benefit from Provisional Marmalade

The high cost of car insurance has led more than a million learner drivers to go without the prohibitively expensive coverage.

With costs of around £3,000 and a risk to the no claims bonus of the car owner, learner drivers are faced with a hefty cost for insurance.

Young Marmalade has partially attributed the high cost of premiums to the internet, partly through some insurers raising the minimum age of the driver they will insure to 21 or 25.

Young Marmalade has sought to address this issue with the use of temporary car insurance for learner drivers, known as Provisional Marmalade.

Provisional Marmalade costs £90-99 per month, and can be started or stopped at any time, cutting out the risk to the car owner’s no claims bonus and significantly reducing costs.

A similar product is on offer from Collingwood Insurance, with both companies keen to encourage learner drivers to complete the minimum 22 hours of private practice recommended by the Driving Standards Agency.
