Speciality insurer, Torus, has named Jackie Richardson as head of global human resources, with immediate effect.

Reporting to chief operating officer, Naveen Anand, Ms Richardson will implement and lead the group’s human resources strategy worldwide.

She has over 20 years’ experience in human resources in the insurance industry and joins Torus from Synovate, a global market research firm.

Commenting on the appointment, Mr Anand refers to Ms Richardson’s wealth of experience in workforce development, talent management, employee relations, training, and organisational design and development.

He adds that her input will help the company continue to attract, develop and retain talented people around the world, as it continues to grow.

Last month, Torus announced that its parent company, First Reserve Corporation, had agreed to amalgamate the business with its other major insurance investment vehicle, Sideris Re Holdings.

The latter provides the capital supporting Lloyd’s syndicate 2243, which writes a worldwide portfolio of upstream and offshore energy risks as well as non-US and Canadian onshore business.

The move will increase Torus’ capital by around $79 million.
