Broker solutions firm, Open GI, has appointed a new head of insurer relations.

Jason Potter moves from Allianz, where he has gained significant experience of developing key broking customers and the company’s e-trading strategy, over the past 20 years.

In his new job Mr Potter is responsible for personal and commercial lines business, particularly across Open GI’s Open Trader e-trading platform.

One of his key tasks is to expand the range of providers on the platform, while at the same time securing new insurer products for the open market and specific brokers.

Commenting on his appointment, Mr Potter said: “The market needs a strong and functionally advanced software house to lead the way with commercial electronic trading and I am confident that Open GI is equipped to do just that.”

Open GI business development director, David Kelly, believes 2010 will see a commercial e-trading “boom”, in which case Mr Potter’s knowledge of product distribution, broker partnerships and software house delivery is “ideal” for the future of Open Trader.
