Aviva has overhauled its UK leadership team and is appointing Toby Strauss chief executive officer of UK Life.
Mr Strauss will be moving from his current role of chief operating officer, UK Life.
David McMillan becomes chief executive officer, UK General, moving from chief operating officer, UK General lnsurance.
Cathryn Riley is to be the group’s UK commercial director, with responsibility for developing opportunities for the two UK businesses to work more effectively together.
She currently holds the post of chief operating and information officer for Aviva’s European business.
Craig Thornton becomes UK chief risk officer, joining the company from Swiss Re where he is currently managing director of UK life and health reinsurance.
Aviva says the new structure will maximise benefits of scale in the UK through adopting a shared approach to customers.
Commenting on the changes, Mark Hodges, shortly to become the insurer’s UK chief executive officer, says: “By bringing our UK businesses closer together under a single and highly experienced leadership team we can serve our customers, partners and our people more effectively and deliver profitable growth.”
