Global insurance broker Marsh & McLennan is interested in acquiring HSBC Insurance Brokers, the Daily Telegraph has reported.

According to the newspaper, talks are at an advanced stage over a deal that could be worth up to £200 million.

HSBC Insurance Brokers claims to be one of the largest international insurance broking, risk management and employee benefits organisations in the world, and the only major insurance broker that forms part of a global banking group.

The unit has a network of offices across Europe, the Asian-Pacific, the Americas, the Middle East and Africa.

As a founder member of the Assurex Global network, the business is also represented by leading independent brokers and agents worldwide.
