XL Insurance has announced the appointment of Frank Oleskiewicz as VP and senior underwriter of Inland Marine at its New York-based Marine & Offshore Energy (MOE) unit.

He joins XL Insurance from Catlin Insurance where he launched the inland marine product line as director of Inland Marine.

Earlier in his career he spent more than a decade and a half with General Reinsurance and has also worked for American Home Assurance Company, Royal Insurance Company and New Hampshire Insurance Company.

Oleskiewicz will be directly responsible to Christopher Smith, chief marine and offshore energy underwriter in North America.

He will be tasked with building up XL Insurance’s inland marine business in areas including builders risk and goods-in-transit.

Smith has welcomed Oleskiewicz’s appointment and the more than 30 years of experience he will bring to his new position with XL.
