XL Insurance acquires Unicorn underwriting team
XL Insurance has announced it is bolstering its equine capabilities following the acquisition of an underwriting and claims team from Unicorn Underwriting Limited.
The five-strong team is led by Guy Morrison, who brings over two decades of international equine insurance experience to the post of Equine chief underwriting officer.
Morrison will head up XL Insurance’s global equine operations, which includes underwriting centres in London and Kentucky.
In addition, XL has agreed to service the bloodstock business book formerly belonging to Unicorn.
XL Global Specialty’s Chief Underwriting Officer Neil Robertson has welcomed the team’s acquisition, stating it would enhance XL’s equine underwriting experience and expertise.
Unicorn MD James Truscott has expressed his great satisfaction at the deal, and thanked the bloodstock team formerly of Unicorn for their contribution to the firm.
