Roland Smith Insurance has expanded its web-based home and motor business using Open GI technology.

The broker, which specialises in arranging insurance for police officers and fire fighters, can now provide instant online home and motor quotes via Open GI’s eBroker quote and buy solution.

The Liverpool firm says it has seen sales of both types of insurance increase since going live with the technology.

Financial director, Sheila Ward, adds: “The eBroker solution has effectively opened up a cost effective route to market for non core business, as we can expand our portfolio without having to recruit extra sales staff.”

Since launching the online solution two years ago, Open GI says it has contracted for a total of 120 web builds covering a wide range of brokers and business lines.

Earlier this month, recently formed Octagon Insurance chose Open GI to power its underwriting operation.

The firm specialises in private car insurance sourced through Go Compare, and intends to expand into commercial vehicle and household insurance during 2010.
