Direct Travel Insurance offers ski insurance advice
As winter approaches and the thoughts of some travellers drift towards booking skiing and snowboarding holidays, Direct Travel Insurance has advised travellers to consider carefully when browsing for insurance.
Given the combination of cold weather, high speeds and competitiveness the insurer advocates ensuring travellers are covered for Search and Mountain Rescue, as well as helicopter rescue.
In addition, personal liability, physiotherapy, “Ski pack” cover (to cover the cost of ski school fees if injured) and Piste closure cover should all be covered.
Direct Travel Insurance also advises skiers and snowboarders to have insurance protection against airline failure and the necessary equipment coverage.
Direct Travel Insurance’s marketing chief Sally Wilkinson suggests making a checklist of requirements before beginning the perhaps daunting task of hunting for the best travel insurance.
Last year moneysupermarket.com released research showing that a quarter of the three million holidaymakers heading for skiing trips failed to purchase adequate insurance, a particularly worrying lapse as one in seven require medical attention.
