Standard Life announce future CEO

Standard Life has announced that David Nish is to succeed Sir Sandy Crombie as group chief executive officer, effective from 1 January 2010.

Nish joined the firm three years ago as group finance director, prior to which he had worked for Scottish Power in a number of senior roles including finance director.

Earlier in his career he was a partner with Price Waterhouse.

His appointment comes after an extensive search for a suitable successor led by Chairman Gerry Grimstone, and the decision has been given the green light by the FSA.

Grimstone has expressed his delight at Nish’s appointment, and praised his proven track record and unrivalled knowledge of the firm.

Outgoing CEO Sir Sandy Crombie has also welcomed the appointment, and paid tribute to the outstanding contribution Nish has made in his time with Standard Life.
