Aviva appoints corporate responsibility director

Aviva has announced the appointment of Marie Sigsworth as corporate responsibility director, succeeding Louella Eastman, who is retiring from the role.

Ms Sigsworth will take responsibility for all aspects of corporate responsibility including diversity, environment, and community programmes across Aviva’s 28 markets.

The group’s annual global employee satisfaction survey will also fall within her remit.

Beginning her career at Aviva in 1986, Ms Sigsworth has held a number of senior roles within the organisation including HR director for the RAC, Norwich Union General Insurance and, most recently, Aviva’s Asia Pacific region.

In other Aviva news, the group is providing additional assistance for expanding small and medium-sized businesses wanting to gain a better understanding of health and safety issues and clarify legal requirements.

As part of its Simply Safety campaign 2009, the insurer is keen to reassure SMEs and start-ups that adopting health and safety best practice doesn’t have to be costly or problematic.
