Capita Insurance Distribution has strengthened its senior management team with two new appointments.

Andrew Beer is to become chief operating officer and will be overseeing all aspects of operations, IT and management information.

Mr Beer has worked at Capita since 2005 and has held a number of roles including managing director of Insurance Services BPO.

Stuart Anderson is joining the firm as sales and marketing director and will be working closely with Andrew Beer, implementing business strategy.

He previously held the post of strategic development director at Homeserve Emergency Services.

The two will initially focus on encouraging further growth of the business’ core of private car and household policies, complemented by a range of “niche” products including pet, classic car and motorbike.

Capita Insurance Distribution director, Mark Townsend, comments: “These appointments reflect the size and complexity of the business, especially following the recent acquisitions of Hero and Lancaster.”

The group acquired personal lines broker, Hero Insurance Services, in March for around £15 million having bought Lancaster Insurance Services a year earlier.
