Specialty insurer Torus has announced the appointment of Richard Girden as vice president, senior underwriter within the construction team.

From the firm’s new Chicago office Girden will report directly to senior VP and head of Construction Steven Norcliffe.

In his new post Girden will be tasked with handling Torus’ US portfolio, and will bring to the role over thee decades of industry experience including 20 years of construction underwriting.

Prior to joining Torus he served as president of Construction with Vista Insurance Partners, before which he worked for Mercator Risk Services as senior VP and MD of Construction.

Norcliffe has warmly welcomed the appointment, and praised Girden’s extensive experience of underwriting, risk management and broking.
