Vispack launches road safety pack

Fabrics specialist, Vispack, has launched a new road safety pack, which it claims can save lives and reduce insurance claims.

The pack, known as “The Driver’s Hub”, contains five high-visibility reflective vests, to be worn in the event of a vehicle emergency.

An essential information card is also included, giving drivers the chance to record medical and emergency contact numbers plus vehicle details.

A road collision form and a ‘Vispack on board’ sticker then make up the pack.

The firm is urging insurance companies to recommend that policyholders carry high-visibility vests in their vehicles as motorists suck at the roadside because of a breakdown or accident are vulnerable.

Vispack estimates that 80% of UK drivers don’t carry the vests (despite 100 fatalities a year on hardshoulders) and believes there is a need for education.

The firm’s managing director, Nick Mills, explains: “It’s a sad fact that most road users only realise how vulnerable they are to danger when it’s too late and they are in a crash situation.

He adds: “If insurance companies take these simple measures to recommend that policyholders are adequately equipped with the right tools to reduce the risk of roadside incidents, many unnecessary claims could be prevented.”
