Saga launches insurance for aging bikers

Saga has launched motorcycle insurance for bikers aged over 50.

Policyholders taking out the insurance are covered against loss, damage, and theft of their motorcycle, including a minimum 60 days EU cover.

Customers can also choose added extras including personal accident cover, legal expenses, and helmet and leather cover.

Recent research by Saga found one in five (21%) motorcyclists are aged over 50.

Four in five (84%) older bikers said riding a motorbike allows them to enjoy the thrill of the open road.

A quarter (23%) choose a motorbike over a car to save money, while 17% use their bike to commute to work.

“With more over 50s than ever before taking to the road, it is a great indication that this age group is really embracing the idea of living life to the full,” said Andrew Goodsell, Saga executive chairman.
