Swiftcover courts musicians with fantasy line-up
Swiftcover, which received mixed publicity for its “Iggy Pop” adverts, has come up with a run down on premiums for rock icons.
Following a row over the appearance of Iggy in a TV and poster campaign, the firm chose to insure musicians rather than drop the adverts.
The Axa-owned insurer now declares itself one of the “few motor insurers to actually cover musicians” and has compiled a fantasy festival line-up of rock stars and their car insurance premiums.
According to the company, jazz-funk artist, Jay Kay, would have to stump up £35,000 to insure his rare Ferrari Enzo, while Dave Grohl, the leader of the Foo Fighters, would only have to pay £250 to insure his Smart car.
Lilly Allen faces a premium of £600 for her Mini Cooper and Britney Spear will need to save up £4,000 to insure her Mercedes CLK, given the star’s odd collisions with photographers and various lifestyle choices.
Madonna can get away with £1,000 in insurance costs when driving her BMW 745, and may therefore have reason to celebrate her 50 years, and Noel Gallagher’s Rolls Royce Silver Shadow 1978 would cost £800 to cover on a policy that excludes intentionally driving into swimming pools.
Swiftcover marketing director, Tina Shortle, says: “These quotes are just for fun, but … even Madonna, Lilly Allen and Noel Gallagher could probably save on their car insurance with swiftcover.com, and of course we now insure less well-known musicians!”
