Loss adjuster, Cunningham Lindsey, has reviewed its project managed subsidence teams.

The move follows a downturn in subsidence claims and could result in the loss of 59 jobs.

From 1st October, the company will expand remote working into the day-to-day management of subsidence work, leaving 50 subsidence administration staff and nine members of its technical team at risk of redundancy.

The firm says it will make “every effort” to redeploy those affected and hopes to reduce compulsory redundancy levels to one half of the staff involved.

Director of project managed services, Geoff Ball, says the company originally planned to phase in the restructure over the next five years.

However, projected subsidence claims have fallen around 20% this year, “mainly due to generally wetter weather conditions and a reduction in claims prompted by pre-sale property surveys”, says Mr Ball.

The changes are therefore aimed at ensuring the company maintains a competitive edge.

In related news, Cunningham Lindsey has appointed Alistair Spence to head up its property owners’ unit.

Mr Spence has spent 20 years n the industry with half of that time working as a loss adjuster; he will be playing a key role in continuing to grow the unit alongside Neil Grimes, operating manager.
