Allianz launches online plant machinery guide

Allianz Engineering is keen to help brokers and their client expand their knowledge of plant machinery, and has launched a free online guide with this in mind.

Visitors to the site are shown how to identify plant machinery equipment and how to meet statutory and regulatory requirements.

Details of how equipment should be inspected and the frequency of such checks are included.

According to Allianz, the UK is home to around 13.3 million items of machinery in need of regular inspection and the firm believes brokers can play a crucial role in helping to ensure that clients comply with statutory requirements.

The insurer’s chief engineer, Phil Wright, says: “At any one time, a proportion of these items will be defective, so regular inspection is an important operational requirement for many businesses.”

He adds: “The consequences of plant failure can include damage to other items of plant and buildings, accidents in the workplace and, in extreme cases, loss of life all of which could result in claims costing millions of pounds.”

The guide is available to brokers and clients via the Allianz eBroker and Allianz Engineering websites.
