InsureandGo takes on Big Gig Weekend swine flu risk
InsureandGo is providing the organisers of the Big Gig Weekend with £1 million of cover for swine flu, a Welsh newspaper has reported.
The line up at the Shepton Mallet concert includes Katherine Jenkins, Boyzone, Diversity and James Morrison, any of whom could be prevented from appearing by the virus.
According to Wales on Sunday, gig promoter Kevin Newton has arranged the cover and Perry Wilson from InsureandGo says it is the first time that a live concert or performance has been insured for potential losses involving swine flu.
The concert takes place in September and with an audience of over 30,000 expected, demands for refunds could prove costly if any of the big names fail to appear.
While reported swine flu cases in the UK appear to be in a summer lull, a resurgence of the virus is expected in the autumn, possibly in a more virulent form that so far encountered.
