Daman National Health Insurance has opened a new medical service centre in Abu Dhabi.

Daman, in which German firm Munich Re has a 20% stake, will offer patients healthcare support for conditions such as chronic diabetes and obesity.

Such healthcare services form the core of Munich Re Health’s platform, together with disease management for chronic conditions and case management for acute conditions.

CEO of Munich Health Wolfgang Strassl explained that the firm was offering a combination of global experience and local knowledge to provide consumers with good healthcare services.

Daman has specifically targeted diabetes and obesity because without increased preventative action these two conditions will become common within the United Arab Emirates.

Sufferers will benefit from telephone counselling and assistance co-ordinating the necessary therapy.

Daman’s CEO Michael Bitzer has stated that in only eight weeks the firm has already received numerous instances of positive feedback from the work it is doing in Abu Dhabi.
