The jewellers targeted in Britain’s biggest ever jewellery heist is believed to be insured by Willis, Insurance Times reports.

The raid by two armed gunmen, who entered the London store dressed smartly in suits, was the second biggest robbery in British history, topped only by the £53 million raid on a Securitas depot in Kent in 2006.

Over 40 high net worth items, including necklaces, earrings, and rings, were snatched from Graff Jewellers in the heist, which happened on 6 August.

The two gunmen escaped in a blue BMW after dragging female members of staff outside with them and firing a warning shot.

Details of the robbery were released by police yesterday.

Detective Chief Inspector Pam Mace from the Flying Squad said: “This was a well planned robbery with a number of vehicles used to help the robbers escape.

“These men are extremely dangerous and fired at least two shots in busy London streets as they made their getaway.

“Someone knows who these men are, they would undoubtedly have spoken about it beforehand or boasted about it afterwards.”
