<description>This is a disappointing and inaccurate claim by Moneysupermarket and incorrectly describes the trend of uninsured driving. Last year the police removed 185,000 uninsured vehicles from UK roads with support from the Motor Insurance Database and the Police Helpline. Whilst absolute levels of uninsured driving in the UK are still far too high, the trend is quite the opposite to that claimed. The MIB has seen the number of claims for accidents involving uninsured drivers reduce by 13% over the last three years and so far this trend is continuing in 2009. The combined efforts of the police and insurance industry is having a major impact. If you drive without insurance you will be picked up by the ANPR camera and your vehicle will be seized by the police. You will not be able to recover your car without proof of insurance. It will also cost you around £350 in total plus 6 points on your licence. It isn&#039;t worth the risk.
